Control API

Control API is the newest API to integrate with DHD Devices. It works wih every 3rd generation core device running firmware version 10.3 or higher and is built to be as easy and efficient to use as possible with security in mind.

It offers access to almost all functions within the mixer audio and logic system. It is planned to increase it's feature set even further in the future.

External Control Protocol (ECP)

ECP is the binary API available on most DHD devices since RM4200-D. You can use the DHD External Control Protocol via a serial connection or TCP/IP. ECP is now deprecated and not recommended for new integrations with DHD devices. ECP offers no security features.

Ember+

Ember+ is a tree structured, open protocol based on a initiative out of the Lawo Group and L-S-B Broadcast Technologies GmbH. Ember+ supports a reduced feature set focusing on integration with playout systems and logical control. Ember+ offers no security features.

REST API (system)

REST API (system) is used for automating system control/management features like backup & restore or replacing picture elements or logging in users. Some features will move into control API soon. As it is based on HTTP, it supports TLS certificates for securing API requests and tokens for access control.
